The following account of the tornado that struck Jerico May 1, 1898, appeared in the Cedar County Republican, Stockton, on May 5. The Republican’s editor had visited the stricken village and this account is far more accurate story than the first, wildly exaggerated ones reporting dozens of injuries and 10 fatalities.
